About Dr. Shermnae D. Jones
I’ve built a life around more than one kind of work, and I’m still making room for interests that don’t need to become work at all.
Some of what I do grows directly out of my years in dentistry. Some comes from wanting to create something I hadn’t seen before. And some is as simple as wanting to dance, play music, or learn something because it interests me.
The experience I bring with me
For nearly two decades, dentistry was a central part of my professional life. My work included caring for children, leading within busy practices, and providing care in school-based settings.
Alongside the clinical work were the less visible responsibilities: coordinating schedules, communicating with families and colleagues, adapting when plans changed, and understanding what a team needed to keep moving. Those experiences gave me a practical understanding of how much happens behind the service a patient receives.
That background still informs my work. I understand the difference between an idea that sounds useful and one that can function inside a demanding day.
Recognizing what could come next
When I began studying project management, I recognized skills I had already been using. Planning, team coordination, communication, and problem-solving were not unfamiliar territory. I was learning to describe that experience in a different professional language.
Earning my PMP certification became part of that transition. AI also became a practical tool for examining my experience, developing ideas, and approaching work differently.
My interest in technology is grounded in that experience. I want to understand where it is genuinely useful, what still requires human judgment, and what it makes possible for people with ideas but limited time or resources.
Making things of my own
Entrepreneurship has given me room to develop work that serves different purposes.
Some of that work is professional, including business and operational strategy through Leverage Advisory Group™. Some addresses personal change through The Destiny Doula™. Other parts are creative and consumer-facing.
I publish as S.D. Reverie, including the Enchanted Melanin coloring and activity books. Through Cinematic Renaissance Studios, I develop original screen stories using AI-assisted production. Voluptuocity™ gives another expression to my interests in wellness, womanhood, wit, and self-expression.
These projects don’t all need the same audience. They reflect different interests I have chosen to take seriously.
Life beyond the projects
I live in Atlanta, and dance and music are part of my life, not simply things I use to explain my work.
Ballet, pointe, and pole give me opportunities to move and learn. I also play music and have returned to the clarinet after a long time away.
I enjoy having something to practice without needing to be an expert already. Not every interest needs a commercial purpose, and not every meaningful part of a life belongs in a professional biography.
